XXX URGENT!!! MD, Upper Marlboro Blind Shih Tzu **Terrified**

This adorable and sweet shih tzu is four years old and completely blind. She is terrified in her kennel and is desperate to find rescue!!! She was found as a stray. Please help! If you find that you cannot help at this time please share and pass her information on. Thank you. Read more about her below.

This is a 4 yr old female shih tzu. She does have a luxating patella and is blind. She is a very sweet girl that is terrified being in her kennel. We are not yet able to dog test her yet due to having parvo in the room last week and have to keep everyone in their cages until this Tuesday, May 29th.

We are not sure if she is housebroken due to being on Parvo lockdown so she has been in her cage since she has gotten here. Since she came in as a stray, she does not have a name. She is super sweet with people and have not had shown any signs of aggression. We can dog test her and I can let you know what the status is. She is 13lbs. She also has a medical note listed below when she went to the vets and they discovered she was blind.

Complaint- Favors left leg-equilibrium problem- stumbles- cries out - brought straight off street

Diagnosis- Luxating patella on left knee. No discomfort on manipulation of limb. No menace OU PLR- weak on consult then immediately dialated os or will not follow objects. Blind.

XX URGENT!! MO, Cabool Senior Blind in one Eye Dachshund *Sweet*

Adorable, sweet, senior Dachshund, blind in one eye with some limited sight in the other looking for his forever home ASAP. He is about 7 or 8 years old, about 12 lbs. The rescue that has him wrote the following.

We are appealing to you on behalf of this sweet older boy. He is blind in one eye and does appear to have limited sight in the other eye. He can see to move around but seems to have trouble once in while. He bumps into things occasionally but not all of the time, so we know he does have some sight in the one eye.

Animal Control said the owners contacted them last week wanting them to come and get him and put him in the pound, which they did. The owners didn't want to be bothered with his sight problem and age. He is so, so sweet, he follows you around just begging to be loved and wants to stick really close to you.

We are a very small organization and just don't have that many options for older dogs with sight problems in our rural area here. We would love to see him where he could have a chance at a home with someone who understands his needs. Please help!

PTS DATE 5/27!! NY, Manhattan Lhasa Apso **Pick Me Please**

ID#A0933369

I am an unaltered female, brown and tan Lhasa Apso mix.
The shelter staff think I am about 8 years old.
I weigh 194 pounds.
I was found in NY 10451.
I have been at the shelter since May 24, 2012

DO NOT call and say you are adopting unless you truly intend on physically going to the shelter to adopt the dog. It ties up phones lines and is a waste of the staff's time to explain the adoption procedure over the phone for someone who is purposely not going to show up. They need every free second of their time to answer calls, assist actual adopters, process intakes, and care for the animals. More importantly, they will note the dog’s file that an adopter is en route which will prevent an actual adopter from saving the dog. This is considered a "fake adoption" hold and that is how dogs fall through the cracks and end up being killed.

For more information on adopting, please visit our website: urgentdeathrowdogs.org and click on “How You Can Help.” There are also helpful links with information on each main album description.

Contact:

Manhattan - 311 (212-639-9675 if outside of NYC)
(hit 0 for operator, do not leave a message. May need to hit 0 a few times at the end of each cycle to keep their phone ringing)!
Also email adoption@nycacc.org
(but ONLY if serious about adopting and ONLY if you are able to GO TO the shelter in-person)
